Reflection #1

The question is how do we bring media and social justice together?  First off media is the plural meaning of media or multiple mediums. There are different types of media in this world such as, instagram, Facebook, films, videos games, phones, and tv shows, you know the basics. What you don't know is that media can also be books, coupons, traffic signs, sex ed pamphlets, protests signs, street art both good and bad, and TBT's. Media is also mass communication.

Social justice is people living and working together for common goods, equality, having rights, having freedom, having a voice, and having better opportunities. The different types of social justice diversity, presence,  multicultural, oppression, prejustice, and prejudgment. Social justice are two separate words, being social is to communicate with others. Now justice is having a right, and being fair. For example Rosa Parks died for her rights and beliefs. Rosa Parks fought for her seat because black people couldn't sit in the front of the bus, so she was seated in the colored section and a white man wanted a seat, so the man wanted to take away Rosa Parks seat, but she refused. So this shows what having justice is, fighting for your rights.

The way we can bring media and social justice together is by using social media as a platform. The majority of people use social media on a daily basis and can be used as a platform to talk about social justice. Most people that are on social media are most likely involved in social justice. For example the young teenage boy that passed away from a tragic accident. People on social media use the hashtag #Justice for Junior to bring change and justice.

The real question is how do we bring media and social justice together? One way you or we as people can do it is by combining media an social justice as a platform. Media is one thing everyone uses on a daily basis. Social is to be able to communicate with others. Justice is having rights, having a voice, and having freedom. So does this answer your question yet?

Reflection #2

The topic I am most passionate about is Immigration, because of what people are going through right now because of our president and this truly upsets me. For example, recently a young 4 year old girl died because a woman hit her with an SUV car. The woman threatened the little girls mom by saying she would call ICE if she reported her. This is where we can bring social justice in the situation because the family and the little girl need legal social support. This generation is so messed up and it is worse now because of our president. Another example about immigration is about president Donald Trump's taking kids away from parents that were considered illegal immigrants. This president is treating those children like jail people. Also recently ICE was in Manhattan grabbing immigrants just like that.

Reflection #3

The group presentation went well in todays class. Everyone gave good details and examples to support their topic. What I would like to improve about the presentations and the way it was presented, is the tone. Two students didn't really talk on their topic or put in effort that much. During my presentation I believe it went well, my partner and I both talked and we both gave good details and examples.

Reflection #4

Before there would aways be street fights, there wouldn't be no surveillance, no cops around to be involved in. It wasn't really that dangerous. But now in this generation there are a lot of shootings, more surveillance and cops are involved more, and the streets aren't safe anywhere.

Reflection #5

The street interviews went really well for my group, the responses we got from the people on campus were really good. The production experience was alright, I really didn't need it because I used iMovie to edit my video. All I had to do was shorten my video to 8 seconds and add transitions and effects.

Reflection #6

As I got deeper into the research process and my understanding on the topic violence is that violence can be many things not just one thing. What surprised me about the new information was that there are many ways violence can be expresses,, it can be by words or physically.

Reflection #7

Developing ideas with my group was a little difficult trying to come up with some ideas. Everyone did come up with some good ideas, I did some research on our topic and I found some good information.

Reflection #8

The part that was most interesting and important about the section I edited in premiere today was about putting transitions to the video clip and adding stuff like sound effects, I can learn from it. The more challenging parts about the video was knowing how to screen shot it and deleting parts that I didn't want there.

Reflection #9

Some examples and ideas I contributed to the overall project today in class was some quotes about violence, and some information that I did research on.

Reflection #10

The most memorable part of today's interview was what Dr. Rafael Mendez had told us during the interview. He talked about his experiences on violence and how violence is portrayed in the media. Something that I learned about today's interview was about the calls to action part where he talked about campaigns.

Reflection #11

The most challenging part about the process of creating our group project was try to put everything together and organized and coming up with good ideas. We were frustrated because we couldn't come up with good ideas and topics for our project. We struggled in creating our videos and websites.
