Throughout this College Now program, getting accepted was so exciting for me.  I’ve experienced a lot. I realized college isn’t that easy, it’s too stressful and hard. I went from having a fixed mindset to having a growth mindset. This has been quite a journey for me and I’m glad I had the opportunity to experience it with my friends.

From meeting my teachers and friends to finishing our final project , this experience was one to never forget. I am looking forward to see what my future holds for me , and thanks to College Now I feel more than ready.

    

At first , meeting my friends and teachers was nerve wracking for me. As a high school students we are not too familiar with what college really is. So to begin, we had two tasks , interviewing people and taking pictures of ourselves, and as a group, we had to come up with a topic for our final project. Throughout this process we learned how to use a professional camera. Hearing about the tragic incident and death of “Junior”, a boy from the Bronx who was brutally killed just as our program was about to begin, we decided that our investigative topic would be about violence, and the influence of violent media on youth. This made the interviews interesting because we got to see how other people feel about violence and their experiences.

    

Throughout this journey I gained many new skills. My classmates and I were able to make a group website all about violence. Hoping this can spread awareness  to people, particularly youth, all over the world, we are eager to keep being a helping hand to anyone that needs it. For that reason , I have also created a website on my experience in this program. In the website you can find anything from what I experienced with violence and how the New Media Arts program at College Now helped me. I encourage anyone who is experiencing violence of any kind to seek help because there always is.

    

As I now finished the program, I’ve learned a lot and feel like I am one step ahead of most incoming college freshman. College Now is a program I will highly recommend to anyone trying to prepare for college and also looking to learn something new. Thank you College Now for helping me and letting me help someone else. Why wait , when you can start college now.
